“The Real is Coming”… BANG YE DAM to Release Solo Single ‘WAYO’ Under YG’s Full Support on the 5th
[헤럴드POP=박서현 기자] The first solo track ‘WAYO’ by BANG YE DAM of YG’s rookie group TREASURE will be released in a day, grabbing the attention on not only music fans but the entire K-Pop scene.
Tomorrow(5th) at 6 PM, BANG YE DAM will release his digital single ‘WAYO’ and its MV. It holds a special meaning since it’s like a surprise gift for the fans prior to TREASURE’s full member debut.
Moreover, the attention is towards BANG YE DAM’s song itself. The melody and lyrics of ‘WAYO’ unveiled through cover videos by TAEYANG of BIGBANG and ROSE of BLACKPINK have captured the ears of many music fans.
BANG YE DAM fits the nickname, ‘genius vocalist’. He won second place at ‘K-Pop Star Season 2’ back in 2012 as an 11-year old kid. He then improved his talents in YG for 7 years. He has proved his potential from two senior artists of YG who are regarded to be more that ‘idols’.
He is now noticing to present his matured and deepened emotions through ‘WAYO’. The beautiful melody, guitar sounds, and mournful lyrics will combine with BANG YE DAM’s charming vocals to touch the music fans’ emotions.
Yoo Heeyeul who first heard his song reviewed, “Many people will be surprised more than me. I felt like a song worth listening to came out in quite a while”. Yoon Dohyun reviewed, “I was surprised he came out with a song which a matured musician would present as a debut single and was surprised again since he did good”.
The song ‘WAYO’ also received wholehearted support from senior artists of YG. YOON of WINNER and LEE CHAN HYUK of AKMU participated in the writing and composing of ‘WAYO’, while YG’s talented producer FUTURE BOUNCE composed, wrote, and arranged the track. Andrew Choi also participated in composing the song to raise its level of musical completion.
The members of TREASURE are BANG YE DAM’s biggest support. In addition to BANG YE DAM, members CHOI HYUN SUK, JIHOON, YOSHI, JUNKYU, MASHIHO, YOON JAE HYUK, ASAHI, DOYOUNG, HARUTO, PARK JEONG WOO, and SO JUNG HWAN will meet the fans on the 5th, the release date of ‘WAYO’, at 4:30 PM through the ‘TREASURE PRE-DEBUT SPECIAL RELEASE COUNTDOWN LIVE’ and preheat for their upcoming debut.
Meanwhile, YG uploaded the D-1 poster of BANG YE DAM’s solo ‘WAYO’ through their official blog(www.yg-life.com). BANG YE DAM in the black and white photo showed sentimental and lonely vibes, raising curiosities on the song.
BANG YE DAM revealed his thoughts on the song by stating, “The lonely guitars which open up the intro, catchy chorus, and my vocals are what you should pay attention to”. He added, “I’ll show my good aspects as many people are looking forward to the song which I’ve prepared for a long time”.
