WINNER Proves Their Group Name Through Their Concert, “Our Happiest Moment This Year… WINNER Forever”
[OSEN=김은애 기자] WINNER proved why they were named ‘WINNER’. The fans filled up the entire arena with heated passion, while WINNER repaid their support with perfect performances. On October 26th and on the 27th, WINNER held the ‘WINNER [CROSS] TOUR IN SEOUL’ in Seoul KSPO DOME(Olympic Gymnastics Arena) and heated up a chilly autumn night.
WINNER went strong from beginning to the end. WINNER’s 3 hours of action(setlist) full of passion, emotion, and joy excited the audience.
The live band performance raised the people’s heartbeat with more abundant sounds, while the combination of WINNER’s vocals, rap, and dance performance excited the fans.
◇ The Meaning of ‘CROSS’
The concert held on the 26th had the sub-title ‘X’, while the concert held on the 27th had the sub-title ‘+’. They were planned with such concepts to present more tracks on the set lists for the fans. The members of WINNER who acted as spy agents will choose ‘X’ or ‘+’ depending on the noise made by the fans, and they would play songs that match the concept.
The group performed more than 40 songs for two days, including their encore performances. Half of the concert time had different set lists. One can realize how much energy WINNER has put in preparing for the concert.
WINNER also performed new songs from their album ‘CROSS’ such as ‘SOSO’, ‘DRESS UP’, and ‘DON’T BE SHY’ for the first time, in addition to their previous hits including ‘EVERYDAY’, ‘LOVE ME LOVE ME’, ‘REALLY REALLY’, and ‘EMPTY’. The members dominated the arena even after stating, “We’re nervous since it’s our first time performing these songs live”.
The solo performances of each member, maximizing one’s individual capabilities and charms, were also presented for the fans. HOONY performed his first-ever solo track ‘FLAMENCO’ and ‘Serenade’, JINU performed ‘CALL ANYTIME’, YOON performed ‘Instinctively’ and ‘WIND’, while MINO performed a mash-up of ‘TRIGGER POINT’, ‘BODY’, ‘Fiancé’, ‘I’m Him’, and ‘Fear’.
WINNER’s music spectrum crossed genres while the fans witnessed the synergy effect that happens when the four member’s individualities and capabilities become united as WINNER.
◇ “X to Farewells, + to Our Memories”, ‘Touched’ by Fan Slogan
The concert was also a time to witness WINNER’s footsteps and growth, after 6 years they have made debut.
When WINNER performed the fan-song ‘MOVIE STAR’, the audience turned on the flash from their phones in an instant, creating a magnificent scene. They’ve also became reminiscent when WINNER performed ‘DON’T STOP THE MUSIC’, which is the song that gave birth to WINNER on ‘WIN’, the survival program broadcasted back in 2013.
As the ending song ‘LA LA’ started playing, the mood and passion of the arena reached its peak. The audience stood up regardless of their seats and waved their official lighting sticks, painting the place with blue waves.
When the main performances were over, the fans held a placard which read, ‘X to Farewells, + to Our Memories’, while requesting WINNER for encore performances. WINNER responded to the fans and connected them with warm hearts.
◇ WINNER Shares Their Sincerity Towards the Fans… ‘A Touching Moment’
WINNER shared their appreciation towards the fans with sincerity.
MINO shared his thoughts by stating. “Thank you for making us unforgettable memories for the past 2 days. The memories are more precious since not only us, but you share the memories with us together”.
YOON added, “I felt like I became a trainee I was 6 years ago, while preparing for this concert. I’ve put in that much work. I thank Inner Circle, and the members who are now like my family”.
JINU began by stating, “This concert was our happiest moment this year”. He continued, “I like the fact that all of our fans are gathered in one place during our concerts. Thank you for giving me a lot of strength” and burst into tears.
HOONY promised, “It was a time we were able to turn our difficulties into opportunities, like our name ‘WINNER’ suggests. We feel secure when we’re inside a fence called Inner Circle. The name ‘WINNER’ will last forever”.
After fascinating their fans of Korea, WINNER will prepare for their Asia tour to be held in 7 cities including Taipei, Jakarta, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, and Singapore, in addition to their activities related to the album ‘CROSS’.
