AKMU, Still at No. 1 on Music Charts Despite Reaching 3rd Week Since Release
[뉴스엔=박아름 기자] AKMU achieved an ‘all-kill’ on Korean weekly music charts, despite reaching the 3rd week since the song was released.
On October 21, the title song ‘How Can I Love the Heartbreak, You’re the One I Love’ from AKMU’s 3rd official album was ranked at no. 1 on the weekly charts for the 3rd week of October(10/14~10/20) of 7 music platforms including Melon, Genie, Olleh Music, Bugs, Soribada, Naver, and Monkey 3.
During the first week of October, ‘How Can I Love the Heartbreak, You’re the One I Love’ topped weekly charts of 6 different music platforms. The song then dominated weekly charts of all music platforms in Korea for the second and third week of October, proving the duo’s influential strength.
The song topped all real-time charts in Korea as soon as it was released last month on the 25th. Songs including ‘Sailor’s Song’ and ‘Fish Meets Water’ were also ranked at the top, successfully allowing the duo to line up songs in music charts.
Although it’s not easy to spot songs that dominate music charts in the long run within the K-Pop scene, AKMU’s music is receiving steady support from the listeners. They are still continuing their no. 1 record, despite passing approximately a month since the album was released.
Many couples empathized with ‘How Can I Love the Heartbreak, You’re the One I Love’, due to its lonely autumn vibes and emotions. The minimal arrangement, LEE SU HYUN’s growth, and LEE CHAN HYUK’s vocal capabilities showed AKMU’s matured musical world.
Meanwhile, AKMU shared the behind stories of their listening session titled ‘Autumn Night Sailing’ held last month on the 29th in Hangang Park, by revealing a making film.
Through the video, AKMU shared their gratitude towards the fans by stating, “We felt ‘Our songs are being loved’ after watching people sing along and react to our songs. We were moved, and it will help us move on to our next activities in good shape”.
After meeting the fans with their new album, an outdoor listening session, and music broadcasts in approximately 2 years and 2 months, AKMU will hold a concert in Peace Hall, Kyunghee University on December 14th and the 15th.
