BLACKPINK Enters the Hot 100·Billboard 200 For 2 Consecutive Weeks for the First Time as a K-Pop Girl Group

[OSEN=선미경 기자] Girl group BLACKPINK was ranked on Billboard’s main charts for 2 consecutive weeks, proving their global popularity.

According to US Billboard on the 23rd(local time), BLACKPINK’s new EP album ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ was ranked at no. 93 on the ‘Billboard 200’, while the title song with the same title was ranked at no. 73 on the ‘Hot 100’. They are Billboard’s main album and singles charts, respectively.

‘KILL THIS LOVE’ was ranked on Billboard’s ‘Hot 100’ and ‘Billboard 200’ as no. 41 and no. 24 last week, setting the best record in K-Pop girl group history.

After making comeback with their new song, BLACKPINK is displaying strong presence in the US, the country with the biggest music market in the world, by entering Billboard’s main charts for 2 consecutive weeks. Entering the ‘Hot 100’ and ‘Billboard 200’ for 2 consecutive weeks as a girl group strongly imply that BLACKPINK is proving K-Pop’s possibility of sustainable success in the American Pop music market.

Furthermore, BLACKPINK also remained on UK Official Chart’s ‘Singles Chart Top 100’ as no. 48 for the second week, after entering the according chart as no. 33 last week. The UK Official Chart is known as one of the two biggest Pop music charts in the world, along with Billboard.

‘KILL THIS LOVE’, the song which entered Billboard’s main chart for 2 consecutive weeks, is a song with strong brass leads and epic drum sounds. BLACKPINK’s charismatic rap and vocals impress the listeners of the track.

BLACKPINK received a big spotlight by performing at ‘Coachella Festival’, the biggest music festival of the US, after releasing ‘KILL THIS LOVE’. They are also letting their presence known by meeting viewers and listeners of the States through their appearances on CBS’ famous late-night talk show, ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’, 102.7 KIIS FM’s ‘JoJo On The Radio’, and many more.

After finishing their first concert of their North America tour in Los Angeles, BLACKPINK will head to Chicago for their concert being held on the 24th. BLACKPINK will then continue their North America tour consisted of 8 concerts in 6 cities in Hamilton on April 27, in Newark from May 1~2, in Atlanta on May 5, and in Fort Worth from May 8~9.
