BLACKPINK Aids Victims of Gangwon Fire→Donates 40 Million Won… Adds More Meaning to Their Comeback [COMPREHENSIVE]

[OSEN=박소영기자] After capturing the people’s attention in and out of Korea with their comeback, BLACKPINK is warming the people’s hearts by donating for the victims of the recent Gangwon fire.

On April 8, the Hope Bridge Association of National Disaster Relief informed OSEN, “BLACKPINK’s JENNIE’ LISA, JISOO, and ROSÉ each donated 10 million won, which adds up to a total of 40 million won”. Besides BLACKPINK, celebrities including Lee Gikwang, Kim Goeun, and Lee Sungkyung also made contributions.

BLACKPINK’s actions stand out. They canceled the comeback press conference scheduled to be held on May after announcing, “We have decided to cancel since we empathize with the residents’ sufferings due to the fire in Gosung-Sokcho. We sincerely offer our condolences to the victims of the fire and people devoted to extinguishing the fire”. 

On April 5 at 0 AM, BLACKPINK made comeback by releasing their new EP album, ‘KILL THIS LOVE’. The MV for ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ surpassed 18 million views in 8 hours since its release, setting the ‘fastest K-Pop record’ of all time. It also set a new world record by surpassing 100 million views on YouTube in 2 days and 14 hours since its release. 

BLACKPINK’s ‘KILL THIS LOVE’ topped iTunes Song charts in 37 different regions of the world including the US, as soon as the song was released to the public. The song set a meaningful record by becoming the first song by a K-Pop girl group to top the US iTunes Song chart, proving their global influence.

On April 12 and 19, BLACKPINK will perform at ‘Coachella Festival’, the biggest music festival of the US, for the first time as a K-Pop idol group. Furthermore, meet the local fans through their North America tour consisted of 8 concerts in 6 cities starting in Los Angeles on the 17th, in addition to making appearances on well-known local TV shows and radio broadcasts.
