BLACKPINK, the “New Record Generators”, MV for ‘BOOMBAYAH’ Surpasses 500 Million Views

[일간스포츠=박정선기자] Girl group BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘BOOMBAYAH’ surpassed 500 million views, proving their nickname as the ‘new record generators’, once again.
The MV for ‘BOOMBAYAH’ surpassed 500million views on YouTube, as of February 14 at 7:54 PM. YG Entertainment uploaded a celebratory poster through their official blog.
Despite being a debut single which was released on August 8, 2016, the video reached the high view count in approximately 2 years and 6 months, due to the global fans’ steady support.
As a result, BLACKPINK became the artist group with the greatest number of MVs with over 500 million views, among all groups of K-Pop. Including the MVs for ‘BOOMBAYAH’ and ‘AS IF YOU’RE YOUR LAST’ with 500 million views in addition to ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ with 600 million views, the group now has 3 videos with over 500 million, which renewed the record.
Furthermore, all 7 MVs released by BLACKPINK ever since their debut have surpassed 100 million views, proving the group’s popularity and influence.
The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ has shortened the previous record by 9 months which is more than one half, reaching 600 million views in 6 months and 28 days. The group rewrote the fastest record in K-Pop boy and girl group history.
The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ has been rewriting all time-related records in girl group history. At the point they surpassed 200 million views, they have set new records in K-Pop group history while reaching 300 million, 400 million, 500 million, and 600 million views.
That is not all. BLACKPINK has almost 19 million subscribers on their YouTube channel, which makes them the K-Pop group with the ‘greatest number of YouTube subscribers’. They also received the ‘Diamond Creator Award’ from YouTube last year on August, for the first time as a K-Pop girl group.
