[OSEN=김은애 기자] BLACKPINK’s choreography video for ‘BOOMBAYAH’ surpasses 100 million YouTube views.
Today(7th) at 1 AM, BLACKPINK’s choreography video for ‘BOOMBAYAH’ surpassed 100 million views, and YG Entertainment revealed a special poster to celebrate through their official blog.
‘BOOMBAYAH’ is the double title song from BLACKPINK’s debut single ‘SQUARE ONE’, along with the song ‘WHISTLE’. The fierce drum beat, and unique synth sounds impress the listeners, while the chorus part where the members shout ‘oppa’ sounds very catchy. BLACKPINK has gained global popularity with the song by topping the US Billboard ‘World Digital Song Chart’ for the first time as a rookie girl group.
As the choreography video for ‘BOOMBAYAH’ surpasses 100 million views following ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ and ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’, BLACKPINK now unprecedently holds 3 choreography videos with over 100 million views among all boy and girl groups of K-POP. It is noticeable that BLACKPINK surpasses over 100 million views on not only official MVs, but also through choreography videos.
BLACKPINK is setting milestones on YouTube. Their MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 500 million views, ‘BOOMBAYAH’ and ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’ surpassed 400 million views, ‘PLAYING WITH FIRE’ surpassed 300 million views, ‘WHISTLE’ surpassed 200 million views, ‘STAY’ surpassed 100 million views, while member JENNIE’s first-ever solo single ‘SOLO’ surpassed 100 million views, surpassing over ‘100 million views’ on all 7 MVs released since debut.
The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ released last year on June surpassed 500 million views in exactly 162 days. The record shortened the previous record by 7 months, in one half of the time it took. BLACKPINK is now the group in K-POP that holds the fastest record of surpassing 500 million views.
Furthermore, BLACKPINK has the most number of MVs with over ‘400 million views’ among all groups of K-POP. With ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’, ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’, and ‘BOOMBAYAH’, BLACKPINK has three MVs with over ‘400 million’ views.
While setting milestones in the K-POP scene, BLACKPINK has surpassed 15 million YouTube subscribers, and is the K-Pop group with the ‘most number of subscribers’. The group also received the ‘Diamond Creator Award’ from YouTube this year.
BLACKPINK’s global influence will be proven once again through their first-ever world tour titled ‘BLACKPINK 2019 WORLD TOUR [IN YOUR AREA]’, to be held next year on January.
They are planning to perform and meet the fans in various cities of the world including Bangkok, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Manila, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Taipei.
