iKON to Release ‘I’M OK’ Today (7th), Their First Song of 2019… Heated Reactions on the Preview from the Concert
[OSEN=김은애 기자] iKON will announce an active new year by releasing a repackage album.
Today (7th) at 9 AM, YG Entertainment revealed the D-DAY poster announcing the release of iKON’s repackage album through their official blog. The poster with the strong image of a car burning in flames grabbed the viewers’ attention.
iKON’s repackage album titled ‘iKON NEW KIDS REPACKAGE ‘THE NEW KIDS’ will be released today at 6 PM through all music platforms.
The repackage album finalizing the NEW KIDS series is composed of a total of 23 tracks including tracks from ‘NEW KIDS: BEGIN’, their 2nd album ‘RETURN’, ‘NEW KIDS: CONTINUE’, ‘NEW KIDS: THE FINAL’, and the title song ‘I’M OK’.
The song ‘I’M OK’ is a Pop song in a minor scale which touches the listeners’ hearts with monologue-like lyrics which reminds people of a movie quote. B.I and Future Bounce composed the track, while B.I, BOBBY, and Kim Jong Won participated in writing the lyrics.
As the composer of the track, B.I explained, “I received the idea from a person’s mindset of wanting to cry more when told, ‘don’t cry’ and feeling more unease when asked, ‘are you ok’”.
BOBBY who helped write the lyrics of the song hinted, “The easy melody is the strong point. It will earn empathy from the listeners with lyrics anyone would’ve experienced”.
The song ‘I’M OK’ was previewed through iKON’s encore concert held in Seoul KSPO DOME(Olympic Gymnastics Arena) on the 6th, a day prior to the release of the repackage album, bringing out heated reactions.
The fans who filled up the arena greeted iKON’s first new song of 2019 with heated roars. iKON revealed not only the MV, but the performance of ‘I’M OK’ for the first time, presenting a special gift for the audiences.
iKON received the ‘Best Song of the Year’ award from the ‘2018 Melon Music Awards’ by receiving support from fans of all generations by releasing ‘LOVE SCENARIO’, ‘KILLING ME’, and ‘GOODBYE ROAD’. B.I received the Songwriter of the Year award. The group also won the Digital Song of the Year award at the ‘33rd Golden Disc Awards’ held on January 5th.
