BLACKPINK to Hold Their First-Ever World Tour on January… Rise as a Global Girl Group

[스포츠조선닷컴=정유나 기자] Tickets for BLACKPINK’s concert in Manila were all sold out following the tickets for the group’s 3 concerts in Bangkok, proving BLACKPINK’s status as a global girl group.
Today (10th) at 4 PM, YG Entertainment uploaded a poster notifying that all tickets for BLACKPINK’s concert in Manila were sold out through their social media and shared the agency’s gratitude towards the fans by writing, “THANK YOU PHILIPPINES BLINKS!”.
The tickets for ‘BLACKPINK 2019 WORLD TOUR [IN YOUR AREA]’ to be held in Manila next year on February 2 were all sold out with the fans’ heated support. Even the restricted view seats that were additionally added on were also sold out.
Furthermore, with the heated support of the group’s fans in Bangkok, tickets for the additional concert in Bangkok to be held on January 11 were also sold out.
The tickets for BLACKPINK’s concerts to be held on January 12 and 13 in Bangkok, LISA’s hometown, were sold out in 1 hour. As there were over 90 thousand people wanting to purchase tickets even after all tickets were sold out, and additional concert was added on to the tour schedule.
Tickets for the first-ever 3 consecutive concert schedules in Bangkok Impact Arena in K-Pop girl group history were all sold out with the heated support of Thai fans.
The tickets for BLACKPINK’s first-ever world tour titled ‘BLACKPINK 2019 WORLD TOUR [IN YOUR AREA]’ became available for purchase in Bangkok, Manila, Hong Kong, and Jakarta, while tickets for the group’s concerts in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Taipei will soon become available for ticketing sequentially.
BLACKPINK became the representative girl group of K-Pop by releasing their first-ever mini album titled ‘SQUARE UP’ this year. The title song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ entered Billboard’s main charts including the ‘Billboard 200’ as no. 40 and ‘Hot 100’ as no. 55, setting the best record in K-Pop girl group history.
The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 500 million views in 162 days. Their record shortened the previous record by 7 months, which was less than one half of the time it originally took. BLACKPINK became the group to hold the fastest MV to surpass 500 million views among all K-Pop groups.
While receiving the support of fans worldwide, BLACKPINK also became the K-Pop group to hold the most number of subscribers on YouTube, with 15 million YouTube subscribers.
The group was also included in the artist of the year list announced by YouTube and was the only K-Pop girl group to have a song listed on ‘The 65 Best Songs of 2018’ announced by the New York Times.
This year, BLACKPINK has partnered with Interscope Records, which is the representative label of Universal Music Group, announcing their upcoming debut in the United States. The people are looking forward to BLACKPINK’s active career in 2019 as well.
