[텐아시아=손예지 기자] Group iKON said, “We’ll not lose our original resolution and keep working hard” today (September 15), in celebration of the second anniversary of their debut.

iKON talked about how they feel about the second anniversary of their debut on the day through YG Entertainment, saying, “We can’t believe that it has been already two years since our debut. We believe that it is all thanks to our fans who have always loved us and be with us for the past two years. We’re really grateful.”

iKON also said modestly, “We still watch the films of our debut concert from time to time. We’re still excited and happy to perform on the stage. We’ll never lose our original resolution and keep working hard”.

Before their official debut, iKON boasted their outstanding talent and appeals in Mnet’s survival audition program “WIN: WHO IS NEXT” and “MIX & MATCH”.

By appearing in those audition programs, iKON build a remarkable fandom from before their debut. Then, the team finally made an official debut with debut warm-up single “MY TYPE” on September 15 in 2015, under a big spotlight from the music scene. Back then, iKON topped music charts and took No.1 in TV music shows even without appearing in them, within 11 days of debut. Such success gave iKON the nickname of “monstrous rookie”. In October the same year, iKON hosted debut concert at Olympic Gymnasium, the biggest performance hall in Korea, exceptionally for a rookie idol group.

Then, iKON swept music charts in and out of the country with every album including debut half album and debut full album “WELCOME BACK”. The team also swept the rookie of the year awards of music festivals including “2015 Melon Music Awards” and “2015 MAMA”. iKON went on to enjoy explosive popularity with digital single “#WYD”, “BLING BLING” and “B-DAY” released last in May last year.

iKON is enjoying substantial popularity overseas as well. Within a year of debut, iKON hosted a concert tour in 18 countries in Asia and in January last year, iKON held Japan dome tour within the shortest period of time for an overseas artist. iKON also attracted the biggest number of audience to the tour and became the third Korean artist to receive the “best rookie award” from “Japan Record Awards” at the end of last year.

iKON is now working on their new album. iKON raised fans’ anticipation for their comeback by saying, “We’re now working day and night to go back to you as soon as possible. Please wait for us for a little more time and please look forward to our new album.”
