[Interview②] YANG HYUN SUK Says “YOO BYUNG JAE surprises me every time. He is such a creative person.”
[엑스포츠뉴스=최진실 기자] “YOO BYUNG JAE is such a creative person. He surprises me every time. He always works hard to be good at what he’s doing.”
When screenwriter/TV personality YOO BYUNG JAE chose to join YG Entertainment, everyone was surprised. The combination of YOO BYUNG JAE and YG – the label of top singers such as BIGBANG, 2NE1, PSY – and was somewhat unexpected, even unimaginable.
Some worried that YOO BYUNG JAE might change after joining such a big management company as YG. But his career seemed to smooth sail thanks to the support from his agency. YOO BYUNG JAE is not shy about showing affection for his agency too: he even hangs a picture of YANG HYUN SUK in his house.
XSport News met YANG HYUN SUK recently, and he couldn’t stop praising YOO BYUNG JAE. “I once said on K-pop Star that, in terms of music, there are two kinds of people in my world: those who like hip-hop and those who don’t. In life, the most important thing to me is whether a person lives a creative, future-oriented life. Creative people are artists. That’s what I look for in a person.”
He went on to say that YOO BYUNG JAE is one of those creative people. He said that YOO BYUNG JAE is “original and inventive. He has many different sides to him. He can act and write.” He said that they meet once a month to have a drink. Every time they meet, YANG HYUN SUK gets astonished to see how hard YOO BYUNG JAE works.”
YOO BYUNG JAE joined the cast of tvN’s “Acting School”, the first episode of which will air on February 4. “Acting School” is a reality show which features Park Shin-yang as a teacher in a acting class. He will teach acting to seven students including YOO BYUNG JAE, Lee Won-jong, Jang Su-won, and NAM TAEHYUN. A teaser video featuring YOO BYUNG JAE reenacting the crying scene of “A Promise” was released on January 18.
YANG HYUN SUK watched the teaser video on the day of its release and sent YOO BYUNG JAE a text saying “It’s really funny.” He said YOO BYUNG JAE texted him back saying “Thank you.”
YANG HYUN SUK has not only trained top-class singers such as BIGBANG and 2NE1 members himself but is also working with actors such as CHA SEUNG WON, CHOI JI WOO, JANG HYUN SUNG, GANG DONG WON and TV personalities such as YOO BYUNG JAE and AHN YOUNG MI. He revealed his thought on this, “Just as in the case of YOO BYUNG JAE, I don’t like looking at the past. What happened in the past is just a beautiful memory. I don’t think about yesterday, I think about the tomorrow. I like new things and creative things; these are what make my heart flutter.”
He also mentioned, “I’ve never worked for money. You Hee-yeol once said the same thing on K-pop Star, and I feel the same way. I don’t make things thinking that people will like them. If I like something so much, then people will like it too. That’s what I think.”
