[2014 MAMA] TAEYANG & IU Received “Best Male & Female Singer” Award… Unrivalled Presence
[TV리포트=황지영 기자] TAEYANG and IU received “Best Male and Female Singer Award” at “2014 MAMA”. The two artists showed an unrivalled presence on the stage.
On the 3 this month at 8pm (Korean time), 2014 Mnet Asian Music Award (2014 MAMA) was held and live-broadcasted at “Asia WorldExpo Arena” in Hong Kong. Actress Kang Sora and singer Yoon Jong Shin came upon the stage as presenters.
The two presenters called IU. IU said, “It’s my first time to come here to MAMA. Thank you for giving me this good prize. This year, I’ve been singing a lot. I would like thank my colleagues and senior singers who made me feel that singing is fun. I’ll do my best for singing next year, too”.
Then, TAEYANG was called as the winner of Best Male Singer Award. TAEYANG received two prizes: Best Male Singer Award and Best Vocal Performance Award. TAEYANG expressed his gratitude to his label, which has enabled him to grow as a solo artist, not just as BIGBANG’s member.
“Mnet Asian Music Awards” (MAMA) began as Mnet KM Music Video Festival in 1999, and had been held in Korea for about 10 years. The festival became “MAMA” in 2009, evolving into Asia’s leading music festival from an end-of-year music award.
MAMA was first held in 2010 in Macao, then in Singapore in 2011, and in Hong Kong in 2012 and 2013, to be established as Asia’s best music award. 2014 MAMA was live-broadcasted on Mnet, KM, tvN, StoryOn, OnStyle, XTM, and Olive channels.
