PSY returns in June: Appears on American TV with Snoop Dogg
(서울=연합뉴스) 이은정 기자 = World Star PSY (Park Jae Sang, aged 37) will be returning to the music world with a new song in June.
According to foreign press including UPI, PSY will be appearing on a famous American talk show on ABC “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night” with a world-renowned hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg.
From June 5, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” will air special edition episodes “Game Night” on nights of NBA Finals, and the two aforementioned artists are on the list with other Hollywood stars like Cameron Diaz, Mila Kunis, and Jason Segel.
PSY’s upcoming appearance on the show can be deemed as a part of his promotion for the new song, considering the fact that he had not appeared on media since the release of “GENTLEMAN” in April last year. Apart from holding a concert in Korea, PSY devoted the rest of his time working on the new song since the second half of last year.
The fact that he is appearing with Snoop Dogg is notable as well.
PSY worked on his new song with Snoop Dogg, and in January the American artist visited South Korea and completed filming the music video with BIGBANG’s G-DRAGON and 2NE1’s CL in Incheon.
But as PSY announced that he had been working on an album, the much-anticipated song with Snoop Dogg will not be the only one.
YG’s YANG HYUN SUK once commented, “Many widely renowned artists have partook in PSY’s new album,” and “we haven’t decided whether it will be a single or a full album.”
PSY’s new song is the first one in a year since “GENTLEMAN” and an album would be the first in 2 years since “GANGNAM STYLE” unveiled on July 15, 2012. “GANGNAM STYLE” is on the verge of hitting 2 billion viewers on YouTube.
The album will hold “PSY-like” songs.
At the concert held last December, PSY confessed that “GENTLEMAN” was “not a PSY-like” song, and added that the song he is working on now “will be more PSY-like”, returning to his “baddie” style.
PSY will be taking part in several festivals in Korea that are to be held in August.
From August 9 to 10, he will be involved in a music festival “City Break 2014” where Maroon 5 will also appear at Seoul World Cup Arena, while participating in “Now Festival 2014” with artists like Lady Gaga at Jamsil Sports Complex from August 15 to 16.
PSY put much consideration in the new song release date, and it is said that the plans had been changed several times within the agency. There had been a number of rumors of PSY’s return since last year to April, as he did not appear on media since “GENTLEMAN.”
