“YG Was Right!” BABYMONSTER’s Solo Concert Proves Their Mettle
[전자신문=최현정 기자] YG was right all along. The group BABYMONSTER has proven this with their undeniable talent and capabilities.
BABYMONSTER (RUKA, PHARITA, ASA, AHYEON, RAMI, RORA, CHIQUITA) held their world tour “2025 BABYMONSTER 1st WORLD TOUR HELLO MONSTERS IN SEOUL” on the 25th and 26th at the KSPO Dome in Songpa District, Seoul, meeting with over 20,000 fans.
The scale of BABYMONSTER’s tour alone was enough to stir significant buzz. Remarkably, just ten months after their official debut, they embarked on a world tour starting at the KSPO Dome, a K-pop mecca and a large venue seating 10,000.
There were concerns that the young and rookie BABYMONSTER might falter under pressure.
However, these worries were unfounded. As soon as the first song “Drip” kicked off, the seven members of BABYMONSTER thrived like fish in water, fully displaying their skills and abilities.
Typically, girl groups and boy groups bring different charms to their performances, with boy groups often displaying stronger stage presence and energy.
Yet, BABYMONSTER was an exception. The dynamic energy they unleashed during the concert was comparable to that of boy groups, pushing the audience into an even more frenzied state.
Interestingly, this ‘dynamic energy’ is a common feature among YG Entertainment girl groups.
At their 15th anniversary concert, 2NE1 was still praised for “tearing up the stage,” and BLACKPINK has proven their energy by becoming the first K-pop artist to headline Coachella Festival.
On this day, BABYMONSTER demonstrated even greater dynamism than these esteemed predecessors, never falling behind.
The uniquely dynamic stage presence of YG Entertainment’s girl groups can be attributed to their distinctive music style.
Commonly referred to as ‘YG Style,’ their music features old-school hip-hop as the base, high-tone rapping, unique and addictive hooks, and intense breakdowns as hallmarks.
BABYMONSTER’s music has remained true to this style so far.
Some critics have voiced concerns that BABYMONSTER’s music might be too reminiscent of ‘the second 2NE1’ or ‘the second BLACKPINK.’
However, at the concert, BABYMONSTER clearly refuted these baseless claims.
Their performance began with high-tone rap that initially disoriented the audience, followed by their signature hook sections that relentlessly echoed in the ears, leaving the crowd in awe.
The climactic highlight section then drove the live audience into a knockout.
Moreover, the live band session and numerous concert experiences have enhanced the synergy of BABYMONSTER’s and YG Entertainment’s music, making it even more prominent.
Ultimately, the music and live performance style unique to YG Entertainment possess an undeniable allure, which BABYMONSTER reaffirmed on this day.
If you are curious about BABYMONSTER but still skeptical, it is highly recommended to witness their live concert firsthand.
You’re sure to experience an eye-opening and ear-popping sensation.
This concert was indeed the ‘kick’ that propelled BABYMONSTER several steps further in their ascent.
In the end, BABYMONSTER proved their worth. YG was right.
