New BABYMONSTER Song Already? YG’s YANG HYUN SUK Really Changing Things Up
[OSEN=최이정 기자] Just three months after their official debut, K-pop group BABYMONSTER is stirring up the music scene with the swift release of a new song. Particularly, the roadmap laid out by YG Entertainment’s (YG) Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK is rapidly becoming a reality, eliciting strong responses from fans.
On June 17th, BABYMONSTER teased an upcoming project that will kick off the latter half of 2024. YG posted on their official blog an invitation-like image with the phrase ‘RSVP by July 1st, 2024’ clearly marked, sparking curiosity among global music fans.
While specifics beyond the date remain shrouded in mystery, the global buzz is sufficient to stir excitement. Since their official debut in April with their mini-album ‘BABYMONS7ER’ and its popular track ‘LIKE THAT’, BABYMONSTER has been engaging in intense promotions, offering diverse content and making numerous appearances on music shows.
The pace of their activities for the second half of the year is also a major point of interest. Currently on a fan meeting tour covering six cities over ten sessions, YANG HYUN SUK has promised to release BABYMONSTER’s first full album this fall. Having successfully completed their first fan meeting tour, ‘BABYMONSTER PRESENTS: SEE YOU THERE’, in Tokyo, Indonesia, and Singapore, BABYMONSTER will next move on to Taipei on June 23, Bangkok, Thailand on June 29 and 30, and Kobe on July 30 and 31. In August, they are set to perform at Japan’s largest music festival, ‘Summer Sonic 2024’.
Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK, who returned last year, has shown a positive shift in YG. Last month, YG’s official blog featured the video ‘BABYMONSTER / TREASURE | YG ANNOUNCEMENT (2024 Release Plan)’, wherein YANG revealed plans for the latter half of the year for BABYMONSTER and other artists.
In the video, YANG announced that a full album is scheduled for release around September or October, preceded by the early release of a new song in early July, exciting fans.
Having initially overseen music and other creative areas, YANG revealed earlier this year that the number of in-house producers has increased from around ten to between 40 and 50. This acceleration in projects marks a significant shift from previous slower artist comeback cycles, addressing some fans’ complaints and suggesting a reinvigorated YG that aligns with fan desires and a more structured system.
This vision is becoming a reality. Recently, YANG’s musical focus on BABYMONSTER has helped each member grow into a perfect all-rounder, excelling in live performances, stage presence, and overall showmanship, thus proving the start of a new chapter for YG.
Indeed, BABYMONSTER has built a solid musical reputation and broadened their interaction with the public through YouTube and various entertainment platforms. Currently, with over 5.91 million YouTube subscribers and nearing the 6 million mark, they continue to leave a distinct mark in the music industry. What project they will unveil next remains a mystery.
