BABYMONSTER Fully Ready as a Seven-Member Group: YG Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK Announces Official Debut
[OSEN=강서정 기자] YG’s BABYMONSTER is finally making its official debut as a complete seven-member group. YG Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK personally announced the debut date and introduced their first mini album, officially starting the debut preparations.
YG Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as YG) posted “BABYMONS7ER | YG ANNOUNCEMENT (Track Introduction)” on its official blog on the 18th. The video, containing an interview with Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK, who has been leading the BABYMONSTER project, announced that BABYMONSTER’s first mini album will be released at midnight on April 1st.
In fact, BABYMONSTER had already made its first step into the music industry with the debut song “BATTER UP” in November last year. However, due to health reasons, AHYEON could not participate in the debut activities, and the group had to proceed as a six-member team.
At the time, YG Entertainment stated, “BABYMONSTER will debut with the six members RUKA, PHARITA, ASA, HARAM, RORA, and CHIQUITA, releasing their debut song music video and tracks,” and announced that AHYEON would take a break for health reasons after careful consideration. YG mentioned, “We are disappointed that we couldn’t introduce AHYEON as a member of BABYMONSTER, but we’ve made this decision for the artist’s health. We will not spare any support for AHYEON to fully recover and return in good shape.”
This news greatly disappointed fans, who had been looking forward to the full group’s activities. Two months later, Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK directly shared good news. On January 25th, through a video, he stated, “AHYEON has fully recovered and is back at YG starting today to record songs for the album.”
It was the announcement fans had been eagerly awaiting from Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK regarding BABYMONSTER’s activities as a complete seven-member group. He assured, “You can look forward to the perfect group activities of the seven members of BABYMONSTER,” and raised fans’ expectations with the promise of a stronger performance following AHYEON’s return.
As Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK mentioned, BABYMONSTER’s first mini album as a seven-member complete group is truly spectacular. He confidently said about the title song “SHEESH,” “The chorus is so powerful that I think many will follow along. The dance is very fun and addictive, so you can look forward to it.”
Not only that, the album includes “LIKE THAT,” worked on by pop star Charlie Puth, as well as the special “Stuck In The Middle (7 Ver.)” and “BATTER UP (7 Ver.)” featuring the complete group, the grand finale of the debut reality show “DREAM,” and a lively re-arrangement of “Stuck In The Middle (Remix).”
More than anything, Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK has also promised vigorous activities for BABYMONSTER. He mentioned, “We are planning various events and performances to meet fans directly,” and requested, “This is the first activity of the seven-member complete group. I ask you all to support BABYMONSTER even louder.”
He also announced the first fan meeting tour, signaling the start of full-scale global activities. The tour will start in Tokyo, Japan, and visit Jakarta, Indonesia; Singapore; Taipei; and Bangkok, Thailand, meeting fans in five Asian regions.
With BABYMONSTER, the new girl group presented by YG seven years after BLACKPINK, Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK’s announcement of the official debut date and introduction of the title song makes the long-awaited debut of BABYMONSTER highly anticipated.
