“BEST RECORD!” M/V for BLACKPINK’s ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ Reach 1.8 billion Views
[KBS미디어=박재환 기자] BLACKPINK’s ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ M/V reached more than 1.8 billion views on YouTube. This is the first and the highest number of views among K-POP group music videos.
According to YG Entertainment, the M/V for BLACKPINK’s ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 1.8 billion views as of 5:02 p.m. on the 1st. This feat comes after 3 years and 7 months since it was released on 15th of June 2018.
With the steady love from music fans all around the world, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ is rewriting history every minute, every second, winning the title of the first ∙ best ∙ most out of all K-POP group music videos on YouTube.
The M/V for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ reached 1.5 billion views last February for the first time among all K-POP boy and girl groups, and is still garnering great attention and popularity like any other newly released songs. When looking at the acceleration trend, the first digit of their hundreds of millions of views has changed every three to four months.
‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ is the title song of BLACKPINK’s first mini-album ‘SQUARE UP’. The addictive chorus and point choregraphy where the girls make a gun gesture became very popular, making the song the ‘Most Viewed K-POP M/V in the World’ that year.
The song itself also achieved remarkable results. Not only did it sweep domestic music charts, but it also ranked 40th and 55th on U.S. Billboard’s main chart, Billboard 200 and HOT 100 respectively, breaking the record as a K-POP girl group at the time. They are about to surpass 500 million streams on Spotify, the world’s largest music platform.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK has a total of 32 videos which reached more than one hundred million views on YouTube. They have more than 22.2 billion cumulative views and the number of subscribers currently exceeds 71.8 million, which is the most number of subscribers out of artists from all around the globe.
