iKON Chosen As New Artist for K-POP Fandom Application ‘Blip’.
[마이데일리=박윤진 기자] Group iKON who had their debut 7 years ago has been chosen as the new artist of ‘blip’, an application for K-POP fandom.
Blip said on the 7th that iKON “Is a group that proved its presence as a top artist through Mnet’s ‘Kingdom: Legendary War’“, siting the reason for choosing them as their new artist.
iKON gained huge popularity from all age groups since their ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ song in 2018 to ‘Why Why Why’ released this March, earning the title of a group with popular songs. iKON members took part in the producing process since debut, and their musical abilities have been recognized by the public as a musician group.
iKON also appeared on ‘Kingdom: Legendary War’ in April and took over the hearts of both domestic and international fans by showing skillful performances as a senior group along with their planning abilities for performances.
The number of subscribers have also increased on iKON’s official YouTube channel, showing how their popularity is under the spotlight once again. The channel had a total of 7.74 million subscribers in March which was before ‘Kingdom’ started, but it increased by 620,000 subscribers in seven months, reaching 8.37 million subscribers as of October 4th.
The number of followers on their official Instagram account also increased by 100,000 since the show, reaching 3.63 million followers.
According to iKON’s YouTube view count data analyzed by ‘blip’, a total of 438 million views were generated by iKON over the past year. The most number of views were from Indonesia with 18.6% followed by Thailand 10.2%, the Philippines 9.5%, Japan 7.5%, and Korea 7.4%.
‘Blip’ said “The group captivated the hearts of fans from Korea and abroad with their strong appeal towards the public and skills, even though it’s their 7th year since debut;” expressing their anticipation on their future activities.
Currently ‘blip’ is servicing 59 K-pop artists including iKON, THE BOYS, BLACKPINK, BTOB, IU, OH MY GIRL, SF9, EXO, NCT, Super Junior, STAYC, and Twice.
With iKON now being part of the application, fans can now check all members’ schedule, news, Twitter, various data, and surveys at once place.
‘Blip’ is a mobile application that was launched by music start-up Space Oddity to allow fans’ convenient fan activities. Since it was officially launched in June last year, it topped the Google Play Lifestyle Category, was chosen as the ‘App Store Today’s App’, and took the first place for Google Play’s ‘2021 3rd Chang Goo Program’.
