TAEYANG of BIGBANG Uploads a Cover Video of BANG YE DAM’s ‘WAYO’ on His Social Media Account… Global Fans Respond Enthusiastically
[OSEN=김은애 기자] TAEYANG of BIGBANG became a hot topic by uploading a cover video of ‘WAYO’ by BANG YE DAM, the lead vocalist of YG’s rookie group TREAUSRE, yesterday(28th) at 9 PM. TAEYANG presented a touching moment for the global fans by greeting them with singing in a couple of years, while the fans online are responding enthusiastically by leaving comments in various languages.
The 43-second clip uploaded on TAEYANG’s Instagram account showed him playing the keyboard and singing a part of ‘WAYO’, BANG YE DAM’s single which will be released on June 5th. The calm keyboard sounds and TAEYANG’s soulful vocals touched the viewers’ emotions in an instant despite being a shirt clip.
The video touched the viewers by presenting a heartwarming song for the global fans waiting for BIGBANG’s comeback, in addition to the public support for BANG YE DAM of the youngest group TREASURE who is yet to make debut by a member of BIGBANG, the eldest group in YG Entertainment.
The video also revealed a part of the melody and lyrics of ‘WAYO’, which stated, ‘Why why why / Why can’t I be without you / Why why why / Just tell me why it has to be you / Why can’t we be’, for the first time to the world.
The fans are responding enthusiastically. TAEYANG’s cover video of ‘WAYO’ has surpassed hundreds of thousands of views in less than half a day, while spreading out through social media platforms in and out of Korea. YOON of WINNER left a strong exclamation by writing, “Wow..”, while the fans left comments such as “A fantastic voice even after dischargement”, “Thank you for the unimaginable teaser. YG Family~”, “I look forward to BANG YE DAM’s single”, “Lyrics that move your heart, I see a masterpiece”, and “TAEYANG’s vocals are treasure”.
YOON of WINNER and LEE CHAN HYUK of AKMU were credited as writers and composers of ‘WAYO’ by BANG YE DAM, which is raising curiosities on how they have supported their junior artist. In addition to the two artists, YG’s producer FUTURE BOUNCE wrote, composed, and arranged the track, while Andrew Choi participated in songwriting.
BANG YE DAM’s solo single ‘WAYO’ will be released in digital and music video format on June 5th at 6 PM. It will be a surprise gift for the fans waiting for TREASURE’s debut in July.
BANG YE DAM, the main vocalist of TREASURE, has appeared on ‘K-Pop Star Season 2’ back in 2012 and won second place as a 11-year old child. He then improved and worked on his music capabilities in YG for 7 years. Later, he participated in ‘YG TREASURE BOX’ and presented his amazing talents as the ‘genius vocalist’, which allowed him to be ranked at no. 1 on the vocalist position and be selected as the final member of TREASURE.
TREASURE, who has confirmed their upcoming debut in July, is a 12-member boy group composed of CHOI HYUN SUK, JIHOON, YOSHI, JUNKYU, MASHIHO, YOON JAE HYUK, ASAHI, DOYOUNG, HARUTO, PARK JEONG WOO, SO JUNG HWAN, and BANG YE DAM.
