Regarding iKON’s New Album

We would like to explain some things regarding iKON’s first new mini album of 2020, [i DECIDE].
iKON’s new mini album being released on February 6 will contain a total of 5 new tracks.
The album recording was finished in early 2019, with the goal of being released in the mid phase of 2019.
But as team leader and producer B.I has abruptly left the group around the time, the album release schedule was postponed indefinitely, while the agency has internally considered how the group’s works created in early 2019 can be utilized.
We had two major troubling issues.
First of all,
we have considered excluding all songs with B.I’s participation as a writer and composer and preparing new songs from scratch, but we had to consider our deep concerns that iKON’s comeback date and vacancy may get postponed and prolonged for too long.
Secondly,
there was a way we could exclude all rap parts recorded by B.I and make new melodies to let the other members re-record, which had to go through a process of rearranging parts and order of the 6 members from scratch since the existing order and balance of members’ parts got tangled and complicated.
After giving a lot of thought, the members and the agency have decided to utilize both methods.
Since the existing songs were not exclusively composed by B.I but were collaboratively composed with producers of YG, and since they contain the hard work and affections of iKON members during the preparation process, we’ve decided to use them after modifications and by encouraging the other members to participate in the composing of songs, a song composed by a new member has been added to the album for the first time.
Not only B.I, but also the 6 members of iKON who have lost their leader,
will feel unspeakably sorry towards their fans which they haven’t been able to express in words.
The agency also sincerely apologizes to the fans for not managing them the right way.
Although this is a belated regret, YG will not hesitate to invest and to put in all of the agency’s assets to protect the remaining 6 members of iKON.
We will understand the hearts of fans who are always showing love and support toward the group and will repay with gratitude.
