[스포츠조선=박현택 기자] HAN DONG CHUL talks about his new show.

On September 19, a press conference was held at the JTBC Building in Sangam-dong to announce the production of a new show titled “Mix Nine”. The producer of the show, HAN DONG CHUL, and Yoo Sung Mo, a JTBC executive, attended the conference. When asked how Mix Nine is different from other idol audition shows, HAN DONG CHUL said, “I’ve heard that KBS is doing a similar show, but to be honest, I don’t really know much about the format of KBS’s show, so I have no idea as to how my show will be different.”

He went on to say, “I came up with the idea for Mix Nine when I was working at CJ. The season 1 of Produce 101 was about female trainees and season 2 about male trainees. The idea for Mix Nine was originally for the show’s season 3.”

On Mix Nine, YG Entertainment’s YANG HYUN SUK will visit management agencies across Korea to look for idol wannabes with potential and help them become a star. 400 trainees will be on the show, and for the final stage of the competition, nine male and nine female trainees will get to compete. They will be competing against each other as a boy group and a girl group, and the winning team will win the name of “Mix Nine”.

Unlike most idol survival programs which makes the contestants compete from the very first episode, Mix Nine will start with the stage in which the staff picks the contestants. The first half of the show will be “Enter Tour Step” and the second half, “Competition Step”. The first episode of Mix Nine will air in late October.
