[헤럴드POP=김은지 기자] iKON’s BOBBY will release refreshing music and show a different side of himself.
YG Entertainment announced that BOBBY will release his first solo album on September 14. The title tracks of the album are “I Love You” and “RUNAWAY”. To let his fans have a peak into his new album and his new music style, BOBBY revealed two teaser images each for “I Love You” and “RUNAWAY”.
In one “I Love You” poster image, BOBBY sits somewhat sadly at a rooftop against the background of a blue sky. His blueish outfit gives an added refreshing feel to the image. The other image features BOBBY lying on a bed and looking at the camera with warm eyes.
The two poster images for “RUNAWAY” has a similar feel to them. BOBBY looks sad and full of anguish. BOBBY is at a beach underneath a cloudy sky looking lonely. The pale colors of the images make BOBBY look even more lonely. This is definitely a side of BOBBY we have never seen before.
BOBBY made a name for himself after he became the winner of Mnet’s Show Me The Money 3 in 2014 thanks to his feisty rapping and strong stage presence. Afterwards, he debuted as a member of iKON. The group released a number of hit songs such as “APOLOGY”, “#WYD”, “MY TYPE”, “DUMB & DUMBER”, “BLING BLING” and “B-DAY”.
BOBBY’s husky rapping on top of heavy beats and fierce choreography only made his charm stand out more. BOBBY formed a project duo with WINNER’s MINO “MOBB” and released “HOLUP”, “HIT ME”, and “FULL HOUSE”. It seemed that one couldn’t talk about BOBBY without mentioning hip hop and swag.
However, BOBBY is trying something new. He is trying a new style of music for the first time with his new songs “I Love You” and “RUNAWAY”. According to YG Entertainment, BOBBY will show a new side of himself that is different from his image in Show Me The Money 3 and as an iKON member. He is seeking to broaden his music spectrum by doing upbeat exciting music with “I Love You”.
Meanwhile, “RUNAWAY” is a refreshing song with simple chords and clear guitar sounds. The song is about doing wild and unpredictable things, which all young people dream about, and it reflects BOBBY’s thoughts about life. He wrote the music and lyrics of the song, and his values and attitude towards life are melted in the song.
It’s BOBBY’s first solo album, but he is trying something totally new. People are looking forward to seeing how he will express refreshing and romantic feel shown in the teaser images and what will he have up his sleeve instead of hip hop and swag. His solo album will be released online at 6 PM on September 14.
