WINNER Says, “At first we thought we were the ugly ducklings of YG, but now we’re thankful to be WINNER”

WINNER’s new EP “OUR TWENTY FOR” will be released online at 4 PM on August 4. The title songs are “LOVE ME LOVE ME” and “ISLAND”.
Both songs are perfect for the hot summer season. “LOVE ME LOVE ME” is a disco song with a touch of WINNER’s sophisticated style. “ISLAND” is a dance hall/tropical genre song with an interesting intro. WINNER members participated in writing the lyrics and the music of both songs, demonstrating their musical ability.
In the morning of August 4 before the release of their new EP, WINNER had a press conference at the IFC Mall, Seoul.
The music videos of “LOVE ME LOVE ME” and “ISLAND”, which were shot in Hawaii, were played to kick off the press conference.
WINNER was asked what it feels like to be doing a different style of music within YG Entertainment, which mainly focuses on hip hop.
YOON answered, “We thankful that we are WINNER and not a replica of some other group. We’re thankful that we have a unique position within YG and we want to keep it.”
HOONY said, “At first we thought we were like ugly ducklings because we didn’t stand out and we were not YG style. We hope to become a group that turned into a swan from an ugly duckling.”
