YG rookie idol group iKON’s debut half album swept the top place on the iTunes chart of 11 countries.
iKON’s debut half album “WELCOME BACK” released on on-line music-streaming websites on the 1 this month at 0 o’clock took the No.1 on the iTunes chart of 11 territories: Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Panama, Peru, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, as of the same day at 8am, proving global interest in and popularity of iKON. Furthermore, the album also took the 24th place on the same chart of Canada and the 26th place in the United States, the birthplace of pop music.
Along with such big success of the album, “RHYTHM TA”, the title track of the album, is staying in the No.1 place on major music charts of Korea, including Genie, Olleh, NAVER, and Soribada. “AIRPLANE”, the other title track of the album, as well as other songs including “TODAY”, “WELCOME BACK”, “M.U.P”, and “MY TYPE” are all ranked in top 10.
“RHYTHM TA” is a song of hip-hop groove genre, which catches the ears with a new mood completely different from the tender and sweet feel of “MY TYPE” released before. The song’s catchy and sophisticated sound, as well as the repetition of phrase “rhythm ta” gives a strong impression.
iKON’s music videos are also creating sensation. The music video of “RHYTHM TA” and “AIRPLANE” is recording 407,756 and 352,229 views, respectively, on YouTube as of the 1 at 8am, so total 759,985 views in combination. The video of “RHYTHM TA” overwhelms viewers with its carefree and intense imagery, while the video of “AIRPLANE” displays impressive acting by B.I and BOBBY who express the pure and tender feel of love, captivating viewers with a different mood.
Meanwhile, iKON will release “DEBUT FULL ALBUM ‘WELCOME BACK’’ on November 2.
