AKMU Attained Triple Crown in “M-Countdown-INKIGAYO” at the Same Time
[동아닷컴 홍세영기자] AKMU has achieved a triple crown in Mnet’s “M-Countdown” and SBS “INKIGAYO” at the same time.
AKMU’s first title track “200%” took the No.1 in “M-Countdown” for three consecutive weeks, from the third week of April (April 17) to the first week of May (May 1).
“M-Countdown” was not aired for those three weeks in token of sorrow over the recent ferry accident in Korea. In the afternoon on the 8, the broadcasting of “M-Countdown” show was resumed and AKMU received the triple crown trophy in the show on the day.
LEE CHAN HYUK expressed his gratitude for the triple crown, saying, “You have given us this generous love, even though we’ve been absent for three weeks. Thank you so much. I hope AKMU’s music could have helped a lot of people for the past three weeks”.
LEE SOO HYUN said, “I have a lot of people whom I should thank. I thank YG’s head producer Yang Hyun Suk, mom and dad, and my fans”.
In the afternoon on the same day, SBS INKIGAYO announced on its website that “200%” took the No.1 on the INKIGAYO chart for the first week of May. The day’s INKIGAYO was not aired in token of sorrow over the accident as well. Now, “200%” has achieved a triple crown by taking the No.1 once again, following the previous two weeks.
“200%” is a love song with a cheerful and rhythmical melody. It is about a feeling of not being able to say anything before a person of a secret crush, despite all-night-long preparation to confess the love. The lyrics of “200%” express such a feeling, with AKMU’s unique musical sense and wit.
AKMU took the No.1 place not only in music shows but also in total six music-streaming websites in April. Even until now, one month after the release of the debut album on the 7 last month, AKMU is still in the top place on music charts, proving their continuing popularity.
