ROSÉ, “The Reason The Lyrics are in English is Because of the Level of Song Completion”
[스포티비뉴스=정유진 기자] ROSÉ of BLACKPINK explained why the title track ‘On The Ground’ was written in English.
On March 12, during the ‘R’ online showcase, ROSÉ explained, “The songs were written in English for the level of song completion”.
ROSÉ will release her first single ‘R’ and make debut as a solo artist today at 2 PM(KST). The title track ‘On The Ground’ states that ‘Although I’ve come this far aiming for a higher place, the most important value is within myself’.
On the reason why she chose ‘On The Ground’ as the title track, ROSÉ stated, “Some songs come to you like destiny when you record. I told TEDDY that I liked the song so much when I recorded ‘On The Ground’. I listened to it a lot. I wanted to share with my fans. He also said the song is good. It came to me like destiny, without thinking”.
ROSÉ participated in writing the lyrics of the title track ‘On The Ground’. ROSÉ stated, “I feel that there are languages that fit certain tracks. I’ve thought a lot about what language would raise the title track’s level of completion, and English went well the most. I was concerned that the fans may be disappointed, but I thought it’s more important to present a satisfying track with a high level of completion”.
She also mentioned that her favorite line states, “I’ve worked hard every day throughout my entire life to go higher. But what I really needed was in the lowest place”. ROSÉ explained, “It simply matched my life. I’ve lived everyday working towards my dream since I was a trainee and sometimes asked myself what my motive was, and the lyrics expressed my thoughts. I feel like I have a lot to learn. It’s why this part was memorable to me”.
